Man arrested for illegal firearms

A 41-YEAR-OLD man was arrested by operatives of Police Station 6 for illegal possession of firearms at Royal Palm Subdivision, Purok Kabukiran, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City Sunday.

Police identified the suspect as Fletcher Lim, of Barangay Taculing.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the suspect was arrested after he tried to shoot Joel Dela Cruz, 51, of Barangay Taculing.

Investigation showed Dela Cruz was standing along the subdivision when Lim confronted him. A heated argument ensued between them and Lim took his gun and tried to shoot Dela Cruz, but fortunately, a bystander grabbed Lim's gun. Dela Cruz was unhurt.

Police recovered from Lim's possession a .45 magazine and 10 live ammunition.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 10. He will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and frustrated homicide.

Meanwhile, two drug personalities were also arrested by operatives of Police Station 4 in Purok Calantas, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City Saturday, January 30.

Police identified the suspects as Rolando Asidoy, of Barangay Villamonte, and Philander Escobar, of Sagay City.

Pico said the suspects were arrested after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover around 11:10 a.m.

Police recovered from the suspects five sachets of shabu weighing one gram with an estimated market value of P6,800 and the P200 marked money.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 4 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
