MEGAWIDE Construction Corp. assured that no single vendor in the Carbon Public Market will be displaced once the construction for the redevelopment of the market will take place.

Louie Ferrer, Megawide Construction Corp. chief corporate affairs and branding officer, said that the Unit 2 Building will be refurbished, which will then serve as the temporary facility where vendors can sell.

He also assured that, despite the redevelopment, the market fee will not increase. He said that should there be a need to increase it, it will go through the Cebu City Council for review first.

Schedule

The groundbreaking for the redevelopment of Carbon is scheduled for March. It will take place at the Senior Citizen's Park.

The renovation of the Unit 2 Building will then follow starting May until September.

Once the renovation of the Unit 2 building will be completed, which can accommodate up to 700 vendors, the vendors from the Warwick Barracks and Freedom Park will be transferred there.

After the vendors will be transferred, the construction for the first phase will proceed.
