WESTERN Visayas Regional Task Force (RTF) and Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) for Covid-19 are set to turn over 500,000 reusable face masks to Iloilo City at Jaro Plaza Gym on February 9.
"This program is a big help to fellow Ilonggos because not all can manage to buy. The face masks will help them protect themselves, and protect other people as well from the virus," City and Social Welfare and Development Officer Teresa Gelogo said.
A total of 100,000 families will benefit from this program. Each family will receive five pieces of washable face masks.
The recipients are Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members, vendors, drivers, and families belonging to the low-income sectors in the community.
This is in connection with President Rodrigo Duterte's "Libreng Mask Para sa Masa" program under Memorandum Order 49, directing all concerned government agencies to coordinate and pool their resources and efforts into the production and distribution of face masks. (PR)
