22 construction workers contract Covid-19; contacts to be isolated

THE 22 workers of a Manila-based construction company who were among the 31 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cagayan de Oro were immediately brought to the city's Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), Mayor Oscar Moreno said on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Their close contacts, once identified, as well as possible suspects will be placed at the city isolation unit (CIU) where they will undergo the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, he added.

"Although naa silay quarters diha pero obviously, ang ilang safety protocols sa ilang quarters have failed. Mao nang i-take over nato, dal-on nato sa CIU and then i-swab nato," Moreno said.

Moreno said contact tracing will be difficult as "closeness is not developed" among the company's employees.

The mayor added that he is worried of the virus being spread in the community if the coronavirus-positive workers are allowed to go back to their homes instead of being isolated in the TTMF.

"Dili na sila ipapauli sa ilang balay para dili mo spread ang virus," Moreno said.

"We may be spending sa RT-PCR and CIU pero that's still wise spending compared to how much we could spend kung simbako maka cause ni og surge og maapektuhan ang community," he added.
