A treat for your eyes, nails and skin

A treat for your eyes, nails and skin

THE beauty industry is visual and some brands and establishments go the extra mile to make their clients beautiful in the most beautiful surroundings that offer both comfort and luxury, which also serve as a perfect background for an after-makeover selfie.

In Cebu, only a few go above and beyond in terms of their interior and mostly those that do are owned by foreigners.

A newly opened prime beauty lounge perched on the second floor of 88th Avenue in Banilad, Cebu City went all out to redefine the usual and straightforward beauty lounges in the city with its elegant chic interior. It’s a treat for the eyes as well as your nails, skin and brows with its a la five-star beauty services.

Gorgeous Beau is founded and owned by a 25-year-old entrepreneur Gibi Luchavez, who also designed the place herself with the help of professionals to bring her dream beauty lounge to life. Despite the pandemic, Gibi pursued to open this dream project, as she herself understands the need for self-care and the importance of ambiance.

“After what we’ve been through, we all deserve to be pampered. That’s why I wanted to open a place where one can really feel that they are well-pampered like a VIP and they can really relax in a spacious, modern and sophisticated yet cozy beauty lounge with an exclusive feel,” said Gibi.

The 100-square-meter beauty lounge — spacious enough that clients and staff can still maintain social distancing even when it is full house — looks like straight out of Pinterest with its earth-toned color with a pop of pink, marble nail bar with gray velvet stools with gold accent, marble-designed shelf for its nail polish selections (that are organic and safe for children and pregnant) and nail art design samples, fancy ceiling décors which are round-shaped mirrors, beige lazy boy recliners with glass side tables in gold frame and equally well-designed and huge treatment rooms. The beauty lounge plays relaxing music on the loop, adding more oomph to the place.

Beyond the polished interior is a clear mission: “I want to let the whole world know that we, Cebuanos, can create a visual appealing beauty lounge on top of quality service” said Gibi as she shared that most clients would ask if Gorgeous Beau is owned by Koreans, and shared her sentiment on how foreigners patronize only foreign-owned businesses, especially beauty salons even if they are in the Philippines.

“I am hoping that they will have the same impression as we have whenever we go to foreign brands like, ‘I should get my nails done here because it’s Filipino-owned and they have the best service’.”

Taking appointments every day from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., Gorgeous Beau specializes in microblading (Gibi got her certification during the community quarantine period), pedicure, manicure, nail art and nail extensions, eyelash extensions, facial services, waxing and threading, radio frequency treatments, foot massages, and permanent hair removal, glutathione drip at competitive and reasonable prices.

Before every service, its friendly and accommodating staff in full PPE (protective personal equipment) serve clients with either tea, coffee or water, and often check on them that will put guests at ease all throughout the session.

With the pandemic that is still going on, extra precautions and safety measures are in place.

Gorgeous Beau also allows private events such as bridal shower, birthday party, children’s party (with parental guidance, of course) and offers packages “to make one’s event more memorable and intimate.”
