BIFF fighters behind Datu Piang rampage surrender

ELEVEN members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) Karialan faction, including those involved in the Datu Piang rampage in December 2020, surrendered to authorities on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Criminal charges for violation of RA 11479 (Anti Terrorism Act of 2020), multiple frustrated murder and destructive arson were being prepared against the surrenderers led by Datu Nino Ebrahim.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas said Ebrahim’s group turned themselves in and surrendered their firearms to the police and military in Sitio Landing, Barangay Buayan in Datu Piang, Maguindanao.

Ebrahim was one of the 134 suspects in the shooting attack in Datu Piang in December.

“Further, Ebrahim was listed in the Periodic Status Report (PSR) as field commander of the BIFF Karialan faction during the second quarter of 2020,” Sinas said. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
