DPWH asked to expedite road constructions, repair works

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Bacolod to expedite the road construction and repair works in some areas in the city.

The resolution was authored by Council Wilson Gamboa Jr., chairperson of the City Council committee history, culture and arts.

Gamboa said the DPWH should expedite the road construction and repair works along Circumferential Road, Carlos Hilado highway near the Bacolod Government Center and Cabug-Circumferential intersection and to cause the installation of reflectorized warning signs during its construction or repair.

He said the DPWH has the authority over private contractors working on the construction and repair along the circumferential road.

“These road constructions or repairs are causing traffic congestion along circumferential road and compromises motorists’ safety,” he added.

Meanwhile, the DPWH is now finalizing its plan for the construction of the three bypass and diversion roads in Bacolod City.

Congressman Greg Gasataya said DPWH already inspected the three areas for the construction of the diversion road in Barangay Sum-ag; a bypass road in Circumferential Barangay Mandalagan that will be connected to the Economic Highway going to Barangays Granada and Alangilan; and a diversion road in the area of Barangay Granada.

He said the projects were included in this year’s budget during the approval of the General Appropriations Act.
