THE trough of a low pressure area (LPA) that brought rain since Sunday evening, February 7, has affected 285 residents in two barangays in Talisay City, Negros Occidental Monday, February 8.

Dr. Zephard Caelian, head of the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division of the Provincial Capitol, said preemptive evacuation was done in Talisay City when floodwaters reached knee level in Barangay Dos Hermanas and Barangay Zone 8.

The 285 residents -- 165 from Dos Hermanas and 120 from Zone 8 -- immediately returned to their respective houses around 1 p.m. Monday after the flood waters subsided.

Caelian said the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office immediately responded and gave food packs to the affected residents.

Meanwhile, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson reminded the Negrenses Monday to cooperate and to always be ready to adhere and follow the advice of authorities if there is a need for evacuation.
