THE Department of Education (DepEd) has canceled all scheduled school-initiated activities for February as some teaching and non-teaching staffs were included in contact tracing.
Dr. Rosalio Conturno Jr., education supervisor for School Governance and Operations of the City Schools Division, said they suspended the activities to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) until results of the Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests have been released.
But Conturno said that only division school-initiated activities were canceled while the mandated programs of the DepEd, such as distribution of Capsulize Self-Learning Empowerment Toolkit (Capslet) and modules, will continue provided safety and health protocols will be followed.
Conturno said the non-teaching included in the contact tracing are personnel of the City School Division.
He said 28 teachers have already been infected with Covid-19 since the middle of March 2020.
As of Tuesday, February 9, only four teachers are infected with Covid-19 and have been placed under quarantine in government isolation facilities, he added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
