Man arrested for selling stolen gadget

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in an entrapment operation by operatives of Police Station 8 in Bangga Villa Lourdes, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City Monday afternoon, February 8, for selling a stolen gadget online.

Police identified the suspect as Norodin Balinte, a native of Barangay Ragayan, Butig, Lanao del Sur, and temporarily staying on JR Torres, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod.

Police Major Jeofer Puerto, chief of Police Station 8, said Tuesday, February 9, that around 4:15 p.m., Angel Garcia sought their assistance after she saw online that her missing cellular phone, which was stolen inside their house in the previous month, was posted on social media and it was for sale.

He said the suspect was using different names on social media.

Police recovered from Balinte's possession an iPhone 7 plus owned by the complainant.

Puerto said they are now preparing the documents to file theft charges against the suspect, who is detained at the station's detention cell.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 3 in Purok Baybayon, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City Monday afternoon.

Police identified the suspect as Roger Laroya, of Barangay Banago.

Police records showed the suspect was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant for violation of Section 1 (a) of Presidential Decree 1602 issued by Judge Montano Medel Jr. of Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 2, Bacolod City.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 3 for failure to post his bail of P30,000 for his temporary liberty.
