A 42-YEAR-OLD man died, while another was injured after they were shot by unidentified assailants on a motorcycle in Purok Lamperong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City Tuesday evening, February 9, 2021.
Police identified the fatality as Salvador Regalado of Barangay 2. Injured was Glomer Mampag, 39, a driver and resident of Passi City, Iloilo.
Police Lieutenant Joven Mogato, chief of Police Station 2, said Wednesday that Regalado was standing along Purok Lamperong and talking to some bystanders when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired at him several times around 9:15 p.m. and fled.
Regalado sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), but he did not survive.
Mogato said Mampag was also standing near the area and was hit by stray bullet on his stomach. He was brought to the CLMMRH.
Police recovered from the scene of the crime eight empty shells of .45 caliber. The nursing aid of the hospital also recovered from Regalado’s pocket a sachet of suspected shabu and empty plastic sachets.
Mogato said they are eyeing personal grudges or drugs as possible motives in the killing of the victim. Before the incident, Regalado mauled his wife.
The investigators of Police Station 2 are still conducting further investigation to identity the suspects.
