Westmincom honors retiring midwife

THE Armed Forces’ Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) tendered a retirement ceremony Wednesday, February 10, to honor the invaluable service of a non-uniformed personnel to the command.

Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan Jr., commander of Westmincom, extended his felicitations to Felicitas Billones, Midwife I, for her 44 years of dedicated and faithful service to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

“We wish you the best of luck as you leave the institution for good. Your retirement only signifies the start of another chapter in your life. Always remember that the Westmincom and the Armed Forces are proud of you,” Vinluan told Billones.

A Plaque of Appreciation was conferred to Billones for her significant contribution and committed service rendered to the command.

During her employment at Camp Navarro General Hospital, Billones provided advice, care, and support to the military personnel and their dependents.

She also assisted the nurses in taking vital signs and monitoring the conditions of the patients.

In her valedictory address, Billones expressed her gratitude to the men and women of Wesmincom, and to the past and present commanders who made her career life meaningful and memorable.

“I’m so thankful for having been given the opportunity when I was just 21 years old to join this dedicated, selfless, devoted, and highly-respected Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Billones said.

“Thank you for believing in me and for trusting me. Working with you all was a great privilege,” she added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
