TO REVIVE Bohol’s tourism industry from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the island-province known for its famous Chocolate Hills is offering massive tourism discounts through its first-ever and biggest online selling campaign dubbed “Balik sa Bohol: Bohol Online Sale.”
“We are looking for all cities and provinces to come to Bohol as long as they follow the health protocols that have been implemented. We are technically open to all, even if some cases are rising in certain parts of the country. As long as you come to Bohol, you follow the health protocol then you will be allowed in to enjoy our facilities and attractions,” Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap said during the media launch on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021.
Massive price drops to as much as 70 percent in rooms, food, tours and related services will be offered by resorts, hotels and tour operators from Feb 21 to March 14, 2021.
Promo vouchers are valid for a minimum of one year but sellers are flexible with the extension of validity if needed. People can book through https://traveloco.ph/balikbohol.
Visitors would need to have negative results of the RT-PCR taken 72 hours before departure and the letter of acceptance from the Province of Bohol and Panglao.
Bohol identified Dauis, Panglao and Anda as travel bubbles, or travel corridors. A travel bubble is a partnership between two or more places with similar rates of Covid-19 that allows for quarantine-free leisure travel in both directions.
Meanwhile, stakeholders assured that Bohol remains a safe destination to visit with health and safety protocols in place, even before reopening its doors to leisure travelers on Dec. 15, 2020.
Stakeholders said prior inspections were done on accommodation, establishments, food and beverage facilities, transport, travel and tour operators as well as sites and attractions to assess their readiness and to ensure compliance with various protocols.
Since tourism is one of the key economic drivers in the province, the crisis triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic had impacted heavily on the sector, with revenue losses amounting to P15 billion and adversely affecting 211,000 Boholanos.
But amid the coronavirus pandemic, the DOT-Tourism Promotions Board said Bohol remains one of the country’s top tourism spots alongside Palawan and Boracay. (JOB)
