82 human trafficking victims rescued

NEARLY a hundred female victims of anti-human trafficking law were rescued by police and social welfare authorities in two consecutive operations launched in Angeles City.

Police Regional Office-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon said 52 women were rescued from a KTV bar located inside Clark Freeport Zone, which was allegedly a venue of the illegal sex trade on Friday, February 12, 2021.

Thirty-five more female victims allegedly performing nude shows in a bar in Fields Avenue, Barangay Balibago in Angeles City were also saved by operatives the following day, De Leon added.

Ten individuals, including a bar manager and suspected pimp, were also arrested by authorities during consecutive operations for their alleged operation of the said illegal activities.

De Leon said the suspects will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons law.
