BOC Port of Subic gets recognition for 2020 performance

SUBIC FREEPORT -- The Port of Subic was commended with a plaque of recognition for its successful performance in border security, trade facilitation and surplus on revenue collection for the year 2020.

The plaque of recognition was presented to Port of Subic District Collector Maritess Martin by Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez, assisted by Finance Undersecretary Antonette Tionko and Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.

The plaque bears the department's recognition of the Port of Subic's contribution in the achievement of the bureau's 2020 collection target.

The commendation coincided the Bureau's 119th Founding Anniversary last February 9, 2021.

The Port of Subic was able to generate revenue with significant increase, collecting P28.677 billion, including surplus of P3.38 billion, with a positive deviation of 13.4 percent.

The Finance secretary also gave recognition for the unwavering efforts of the port in apprehending illegal commodities, and their commitment to duty in protecting the borders.

Collector Martin lauded Dominguez and Bureau of Customs Commissioner Guerrero for appreciating the men and women of the Port of Subic who showed true devotion and dedication in the performance of their duties to counter illegal activities in the area.

Martin vowed to continue support and abide by the directives of Guerrero in enforcing stringent measures against prohibited commodities and to safeguard the country's borders from illegal activities. (Ric Sapnu)
