Magno up against unbeaten O’Leary

Fil-Brit Irvin Magno is in for a tough assignment as he takes on unbeaten Irish prospect Pierce O’Leary in a six-round fight in an MTK Global boxing show on Feb. 19, 2021 at the Bolton Whites Hotel in Bolton, Lancashire, England.

Magno, who resides in Derbyshire, England, made his pro debut in 2016 with a draw against Tony Jones. He lost his next two fights and then won his next four contests. The 28-year-old Magno, who was born in Butuan City, dropped a close decision to Kevin Hooper in 2017 before coming back from a long layoff to beat Michael Isaac Carrero by decision in 2019. This will be Magno’s first fight in 19 months.

The 20-year-old O’Leary, on the other hand, is one of the fighters being groomed by MTK Global for stardom.

O’Leary was a standout as an amateur representing Ireland from 2014 to 2019. He amassed a record of 200 wins and only seven losses. He transitioned into the pro ranks in 2019 with a decision win over Oscar Amador. He last saw action on Aug. 12, 2020 and won via fourth round technical knockout over Jacob Quinn.

Magno is 5-3-1 with a knockout, while O’Leary is 5-0 with two knockouts. (EKA)
