Food vendor mauled for refusing to give free ‘ginabot’

A 32-YEAR-OLD MAN who runs a roadside eatery, locally known as “pungko-pungko,” landed in the hospital after he was attacked by 13 boys and two adult men, reportedly addicted to solvent, in Barangay Zapatera, Cebu City on Tuesday night, Feb. 16, 2021.

Gerry Villamor Pelenio was also stabbed by two of his attackers who were later identified as Ariel “Manok” Amsay, 28, and Winnie Boy “Bruno” Misal, 30.

Amsay and Misal had asked for “ginabot” (fried pig entrails) that Pelenio was selling, but Pelenio refused. Pelenio is from Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental and lives in Barangay Apas.

Pelenio’s refusal angered Amsay and Misal who later called their friends to physically attack him, according to Parian Police Station Chief Albert Quilitorio.

The food vendor suffered bruises and four stab wounds.

The police have yet to arrest any of Pelenio’s attackers. (BBT)
