ABOUT 350 kilos of frozen food and meat products that were confiscated early this week were immediately destroyed through burning in Cadiz City, officials said.

Officials from the Cadiz City Veterinary Office and the Cadiz City Police Station seized nearly 350 kilos of frozen food and processed meats during an operation conducted earlier this week.

Dr. Josue Rabang, city veterinarian, said the operation was conducted as part of the city's local anti-African Swine Fever protocols.

The confiscated items were immediately buried to prevent them from being consumed, Rabang said.

Rabang said the operation was conducted Tuesday morning, February 16, after shipment that originated from Bacolod City was monitored.

He said among the violations that were committed were the mishandling and improper transportation of the products, which were supposed to be transported via a freezer truck. The shipment also did not have pertinent documents and meat inspection certificates.

Rabang said they confiscated the products and the vehicle, while the personnel who were transporting them were ordered to return to their place of origin.
