RETIRED Major General Melquiades Feliciano, the chief implementer of the Inter-Agency Task Force-Visayas, announced on February 19, 2021 that the National Government is considering raising the quarantine level of Cebu City due to the sudden increase of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the city.

He said they are still looking until next week before deciding to raise the city’s quarantine level.

According to Feliciano, based on the results of the swab tests in two clustered clinics in Cebu City in February 2021, the positivity rate increased by 200 percent from January 2021.

On February 18, 2021, Cebu City recorded the highest number of cases, which reached 281.
