Carnapping convict found dead in Bilibid

CARNAPPING convict Raymond Dominguez was found dead in his detention cell at the New Bilibid Prison on Friday morning, February 19, 2021, Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) spokesperson Gabby Chaclag has confirmed.

In a text message, Chaclag said Dominguez’s body was discovered around 6:20 a.m. by his cell mates who immediately reported it to the duty personnel.

“Initially, it appears na no sign of foul play but we have ordered full investigation to dispel any rumors of irregularity,” Chaclag said in a text message to Sunstar.

He said they have yet to identify Dominguez’s cause of death.

Earlier, it was rumored that Dominguez had died from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Dominguez was the convicted leader of a carnapping group operating in the National Capital Region and Central Luzon.

He was involved in the murder of Venson Evangelista, son of Volunteer Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) president and spokesperson Arsenio Evangelista.

Dominguez’s accomplice posed as customers of Venson, who was a second-hand car dealer.

Venson’s charred body was found in an irrigation canal in Cabanatuan City a day after he went missing. He had accompanied two “customers” to test drive a vehicle. (SunStar Philippines)
