SIX inmates of the Pardo Police Station tested positive for the virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), according to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) in a press conference on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021.

Because of this, the Pardo Police Station will temporarily not accept inmates until the prison cell is decontaminated.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, CCPO deputy director for operations, they found that the inmates were already positive for Covid-19 before they were arrested.

The police found out the inmates were positive after they underwent a swab test, which is part of CCPO’s standard operating procedure for individuals they apprehended.

Parilla said that the police officers in direct contact with the six inmates are now in isolation and waiting for the results of their swab tests.

The inmates will be transferred to the isolation facility of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. (AYB/With NRC)
