SEVENTEEN additional employees of the Kabankalan City government received house keys from Mayor Pedro Zayco in an official turnover ceremony held on February 22, 2021.

The 17 employees were new recipients of the Kabankalan City Housing Project that offers affordable housing for employees, Jake Gonzales of the Kabankalan City PIO said.

“As I turned over the keys to the homeowners, it is my prayer that they will take care of this property and live a peaceful and bountiful life with their family,” Zayco said in a speech during the ceremony, which was also attended by Vice Mayor Raul Rivera and other city officials.

Rivera, on the other hand, said the housing project was a brainchild of the Zayco brothers (former mayor Isidro P. Zayco and Mayor Pedro P. Zayco, Jr.) to give opportunities to government employees to have decent and affordable houses.

To date, there are 195 units constructed for government employees. For the Isidro Village (Phase 1), there are 99 units and for Pedro Village (Phase 2), 96 units. Each unit has a total floor area of 32 square meters (sqm), with a total lot area of 100 sqm, Gonzales said.

Another phase will open in the coming year, which is considered part of the welfare program of the City Government of Kabankalan City, she added.
