Nueva Ecija tourism road nears completion

ECO-TOURISM enthusiasts will soon be able to easily access Ditabuyan Falls in Barangay Cadaclan, Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office is set to complete the third phase of the access road to the eco-tourism destination.

The DPWH, in a post on its regional social media page, said the project is expected to finish in March 2021.

District Engineer Gerardo T. de Guzman said the 2.809-lane kilometer road will provide better access for those visiting this emerging tourist destination.

“This project, with a total amount of P47 million under the 2020 General Appropriation Act, will not only boost the tourism industry, but it will also improve access to social services and will definitely create economic progress in the province,” De Guzman said.

De Guzman also stressed that the fourth phase of the project has already started in February 2021.

Implementation of the multi-year project tourism road project began in 2018 with the initial release of P64.17 Million funded under the DOT-DPWH Convergence Program.

In 2019, the project received additional funding of P18.62 million, wherein the project’s scope of work included road concreting and construction of grouted riprap. For the three-year implementation of the project, a total of 9.90 lane kilometers of earth road has been concreted.

Located 23 kilometers away from Pantabangan town proper, Ditabuyan Falls, which is as tall as a four-story building, has been gaining popularity among tourists and is a frequented area by mountaineers.
