Eastern Visayas logs Covid-19 deaths for 10 days in a row

EASTERN Visayas has recorded daily deaths related to coronavirus disease (Covid-19) for 10 successive days based on its daily tally from February 16 to 25, 2021.

As of Thursday, February 25, 2021, the fatalities have already reached 219 or 1.43 percent of the 15,367 total number of Covid-19 cases.

According to the regional health department, the latest Covid-related deaths were identified as EV-15064, a 79-year-old female from Palompon, Leyte, who died on February 23, 2021; and EV-15276, a 68-year-old female from Tacloban City, who died on February 23, 2021.

Meanwhile, a total of 68 new cases were recorded in the region on Thursday.

The new cases were part of the 851 laboratory samples from the Eastern Visayas Regional Covid-19 Testing Center and Divine Word Virology Laboratory both in Tacloban City, and Ormoc City Molecular Diagnostic Center.

The new cases represent 7.99 percent positivity rate, the health department said.

Eastern Visayas has now 14,746 (95.96 percent) total number of Covid-19 recoveries and 402 (2.62 percent) total active cases. (SunStar Philippines)
