P41.9-M quarantine facility in Mariveles town completed

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) had finished a new quarantine facility in Mariveles town in Bataan to boost quarantine response capabilities against the spread of the coronavirus.

This was announced by DPWH Secretary Mark Villar Friday, February 26, 2021, adding that the facility had been turned over to the local government unit (LGU).

“We have officially turned over to the local government of Mariveles a total of three units of health facilities with individual quarters, comfort rooms, separate quarters for health personnel, and nurses’ station to aid in the LGU’s intensified efforts,” added Secretary Villar.

On behalf of Villar, DPWH Bataan Second District Engineer Ulysses Llado recently turned over the isolation centers to Mariveles Mayor Jocelyn Castañeda, who reported that the municipality had the highest number of confirmed cases in Bataan.

The project involved the conversion of 20-feet container vans into 16 units of air-conditioned emergency health facility equipped with persons with disability-friendly ramps, portable generator sets, single-phase electrical power distribution system, and electrical room.

Once the pandemic is over, the facilities can also be used as main evacuation areas during calamities and other health-related emergencies.
