THE EB Magalona police are investigating the death of a man found near a sugarcane field at Hacienda Madena Gustilo, Sitio Bagaas, Barangay Tabigue, EB Magalona Thursday morning, February 25, 2021.
The victim, who remained unidentified as of Friday evening, was reportedly still breathing when found lying in the said area but died Thursday afternoon at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City.
Police Captain Joseth Catonina, EB Magalona town police chief, said the victim was found lying by the roadside of a sugarcane field by residents in the area with a gunshot wound on the head and shoulder.
To the surprise of the residents, the victim was still breathing and they immediately contacted local police and paramedics who promptly transported the victim to the CLMMRH.
Catonina believed the victim possibly knew his attackers, who brought him to the area where he was shot.
Police are currently eyeing at least two suspects in the shooting and they may have used either a tricycle or a motorcycle heading to the area.
The victim was also believed to be not from the town, as no one in the area could positively identify him.
EB Magalona police are continuing their investigation.
