Games to seek IATF nod

The PBA has given the green light for its 3x3 competition to kick off, provided its gets approval from the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

The PBA is looking at having 18 teams compete in the tournament, including one team each from the league’s 12 existing clubs. The format, though, remains unclear as it is up to the IATF to recommend what it thinks would be best for the PBA’s 3x3 tilt.

Should the IATF permit the league to conduct a closed-circuit tournament, the PBA will have a three-conference season wherein each conference would have five legs that would culminate in the Grand Finals.

But if the IATF recommends a bubble setup, then a 13-day competition composed of three two-day legs and a two-day grand finals, would take place.

Players per team would also depend on the IATF’s recommendation. A non-bubble tournament would have six players per team while a bubble one would have five. (JNP)
