2 nabbed, P2-M shabu seized in anti-drug stings

POLICE operatives have arrested two alleged big-time drug personalities and confiscated some P2 million worth of shabu in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, an official said Monday, March 1.

Police Captain Edwin Duco Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Almutlah Angkaya Maharan, 39; and Ben Saidul Muksan, 25 of Mariki and Baliwasan villages, respectively.

Duco said Maharan was arrested in possession of some P1.7 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation around 5:35 p.m. Sunday, February 28, in Tumaga village, Zamboanga City.

Duco said that also recovered from Maharan's possession were a coin purse, 499 pieces of P1,000 bills a boodle money topped with one P1,000 genuine bill as marked money.

Muksan yielded some P300,000 worth of shabu when arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of search warrant around 1:30 a.m. Monday on Masambo Drive, Block 1, in Baliwasan village, Zamboanga City, according to Duco.

He said charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the arrested suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
