PH capital tightens restrictions as Covid cases continue to rise

(UPDATED) Manila City Mayor Francisco Domagoso on Monday, March 8, 2021, ordered law enforcement units to tighten health and security measures as coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases continued to increase.

In a statement, the Manila City Public Information Office said the mayor’s key directives are:

  • Manila Police District (MPD) to increase police presence and strictly enforce minimum health protocols;
  • Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) to deploy Covid-19 safety marshals;
  • Manila Barangay Bureau (MBB) authorized to impose barangay level lockdowns, if necessary; and
  • General Services Office, Department of Engineering and Public Works, and Department of Public Services to prepared food boxes for 700,000 families.
