Sharon is ‘Revirginized’

MEGASTAR Sharon Cuneta is preparing for a comeback film, but this time, taking on a bolder role - something that is out of her usual movie projects.

The project she’s working on is under her former mother studio, Viva Films. The film, oddly entitled "Revirginized" will be directed by Darryl Yap, who is known for producing provocative and out-of-the-box storytelling.

“I have done, I guess 60 movies since I started in showbiz. I want to experiment, so this is a welcome project,” she shared in an online press briefing last week.

The megastar added that what’s good about being an actress is that one has a license to be a different person.

Entitled ‘Revirginized,’ Cuneta will be portraying the role of ‘Carmela’ who got pregnant at 16 years old.

“Maaga nakuha sa kanya ang pagdadalaga. Hindi niya naexperience halos lahat ng dapat maranasan ng isang dalaga,” writer-director Yap shared.

Rosanna Roces will join her in this upcoming film. Yap shared Roces will be responsible for the shift of Sharon’s character.

“It will be full of surprises. She will experience kung ano ba ang dapat mararanasan ng isang dalaga sa parties? From the title itself malalaman mo ano ang gagawin ng karakter,” Yap added.

Yap, who considers this a dream project, said he will be extra careful and mindful of the film’s theme considering that Sharon’s fan base traverses multiple generations.

The megastar will be joined by Albert Martinez, Marco Gumabao, and comebacking actress Cristina Gonzales.

When asked about how her family reacted upon knowing the film’s theme, Cuneta shared that she is blessed to have a loving and understanding husband.

“Recently lang niya ako tinanong about the film. I think pag nanood siya pwede magulat siya. But he is very understanding and supportive. He knows this is my passion and craft. He is always ready,” she said.
