THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 visited 15 drug surrenderers from Barangay Lorega San Miguel, Cebu City on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

They visited to check if the drug surrenderers have not gone back to selling illegal drugs.

PDEA 7 Director Levi Ortiz led the visit, along with Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse (Cosap) head Jonah John Rodriguez and Barangay Lorega Captain Fritzgerald Herrera.

Herrera said that among the 200 drug surrenderers in the barangay, the 15 were picked for their notoriety in selling and using illegal drugs.

He told SuperBalita Cebu that many drug surrenderers have gone back to selling illegal drugs. Those who were arrested and released through a plea bargaining agreement would go to the barangay hall to have their names cleared or because they are under probation, but would not return.

The house-to-house visit is part of the drug clearing program of PDEA with targets the agency aims to achieve before the term of President Rodrigo Duterte ends in 2022.

In 2016, more than 200 drug pushers and users surrendered themselves to the Lorega Barangay Hall and admitted to being involved in illegal drugs. (AYB, BBT/With NRC)
