Zamboanga City anti-drug stings net 6, P453,000 shabu

A YOUTH council leader, a militiaman and four others were arrested, while some P453,760 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City recently.

Police Colonel Rexmel Reyes, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested youth council leader as John Rey Jubilan, 25, and militiaman as Rico Chavez, 43.

He identified the other arrested suspects as follows: Marlon Gonzales, 18; Elimar Esperat, 40; Fredo Delfin, 22; and, Pike Colanggo, 35.

Jubilan, the Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson of Ayala village, was arrested together with Gonzales in a buy-bust operation around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in Purok 5 in Talisayan village, this city.

Reyes said Jubilan and Gonzales yielded some 2.5 grams of suspected shabu worth P17,000 and P200 marked money.

Chavez and Esperat were arrested in possession of some P430,000 worth of suspected shabu and P500 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 10 p.m. Tuesday in Ayala, this city.

Recovered from Delfin were some P4,760 worth of suspected shabu, a coin purse, and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Buenagatas in Boalan village, this city.

Colanggo yielded some P2,000 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Santo Niño in Putik village, this city.

Reyes said the suspects were detained, while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
