SAN Carlos City Library donated books to far-flung schools Prosperidad and Codcod Elementary Schools (ES) in celebration of its 62nd Public Library Day Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Prosperidad ES received 270 books of different kind, while Codcod ES also got 285. The said books consisted of novels (fiction), textbooks, encyclopedias and dictionaries. Magazines were also included and displayed at the school library.

Stella Fetiluna, librarian III of San Carlos City Library, said for this year’s celebration, they targeted schools in rural areas for the book donation since students from the highlands do not have much access to the city library because of distance.

Rose Almaras, principal of Prosperidad Elementary School, said the books are a big help to struggling learners and those who have reading disabilities to enhance their skills.

She added that aside from textbooks being used, the donated books also entertain students, making them enjoy reading.

Liezl Ogatis, officer-in-charge of Codcod Elementary School, on behalf of their school principal Dee Marie Dela Victoria, thanked the City Library for choosing their school as one of the recipients of said books since they also needed reading materials for their pupils. (PR)
