THE Cebu City Government is looking at vaccinating 400 individuals per site per day when it will roll out its coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination program for the public.

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella said that priority sectors in the city’s public vaccination program include barangay health workers, private doctors, and medical workers from laboratories outside hospitals and birthing centers.

The Cebu City Government continues to search for and prepare areas with wide spaces to follow the health protocol on social distancing.

“The Vaccine Board has already inspected areas to be used as public vaccination sites. We are also in talks with malls that have offered to provide additional sites for the Covid-19 vaccination rollout,” said Labella.

The Cebu City Government opted to use AstraZeneca and Covovax vaccines for its public vaccination program. It has allocated P400 million for the purchase of the Covid-19 vaccines.

On March 10, 2021, medical frontliners at the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) received the first dose of the Sinovac vaccine. After 28 days, they will receive the second shot of the same vaccine.

During the vaccination at CCMC, hospital administrator Yvonne Cania and medical director Dr. Anton Reposar received the first jab of the Sinovac vaccine.

“I’m happy that we have started vaccinations in Cebu City. Our healthcare workers remain dedicated to fighting the pandemic with us and I hope that we also continue to do our part in observing health protocols,” said Labella. (REV/With NRC)
