2 NPA supply officers surrender in Zamboanga del Norte

TWO communist New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists have surrendered to government authorities in Zamboanga del Norte, officials announced.

Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, identified the NPA surrenderers as Nelboy Racho alias RJ and Jemar Yator alias Jelo, supply officers of the defunct Guerrilla Front Feliciano “A” and defunct HQ-KALAW, respectively.

The two fronts are under the NPA’s Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC).

The two NPA supply officers surrendered Monday, March 8, in Godo Zamboanga del Norte.

Based on the initial debriefing with the two, they were motivated by the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) and with the persuasion by local populace to return to the folds of the law.

“We, in the MTF-ELCAC (Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) of Godod, are committed to supporting our security forces in the campaign to finally put an end to the decades-long insurgency problem in our locality,” said Godod Mayor Abel Matildo.

Brigadier General Leonel Nicolas, 102nd Infantry Brigade commander, urged the remaining members of the WMRPC to lay down their arms.

“This is the right time for them to surrender as the government is preparing the grounds for their safe return to their communities with the creation of the National Amnesty Commission coupled with the E-Clip Benefits,” Nicolas said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
