THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will turn over on Friday, March 12, 2021, to the City Government of Bacolod the 45-cubicle isolation facility at the Bacolod Evacuation Center at the Abada-Escay Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre.

Congressman Greg Gasataya said Thursday the 45-cubicle isolation facility is intended for asymptomatic and mild coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patients.

He said the national government earlier allotted a budget through the DPWH for the improvement of the Bacolod Evacuation Center to be used as an isolation or quarantine facility for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients.

He said the isolation facility can accommodate 45 individuals.

Aside from the 45-cubicle isolation facility in Barangay Vista Alegre, he added the DPWH will also turnover Friday the 32-bed isolation facility in Barangay Alijis.

Gasataya said these projects were funded under the Bayanihan Law.

“We are thankful to the national government for providing us funds to accommodate the Covid-19 patients,” Gasataya said.

In February 2020, DPWH turned over the evacuation center to the City Government. The evacuation center has a total contract amount of P33 million. The budget was taken from the national government.

It is composed of eight structures such as the accommodation building, office and infirmary building, male toilet and bath, laundry area/drying area, water tank, materials recovery facility, female toilet and bath, and generator room.

Gasataya said the national government also allotted a budget for the construction of health centers in eight barangays in Bacolod.

He said this project will be implemented this year in the areas of Barangays Punta Taytay, Mansilingan, Taculing, Alijis, Mandalagan, Banago and two other barangays.

He added that these will be two-story barangay health centers since most of the barangays have limited spaces.

Gasataya said the budget will be taken from the General Appropriations Act.
