TO boost local arrivals in time for the 500th quincentennial celebration of the introduction of Christianity to the country, tourism stakeholders headed by the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRAC) will hold an online sale from March 21 to April 30, 2021.

Dubbed “I Love Cebu,” this marketing initiative aims to help revive the domestic tourism in Cebu that is currently bleeding from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The project is supported by the Department of Tourism and local government units.

“More than 40 hotels and counting have already joined the online sale. The sale will include all the hotels, not only our members, to help ailing hotels and resorts, and give them the chance to revive the tourism industry and to start all over again,” HRRAC president Alfred Reyes said.

Participants of the online sale include one-star to five-star hotels in Cebu as well as tour operators. The group aims to entice the domestic market with affordable and attractive tour packages mostly with two-night and three- day stays and airfares.

He said the website will be launched on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 and sales will go live on March 21, 2021 until April 30, 2021 with bookings which have a one-year validity.

“Prices are really lowered during this sale and travelers can expect up to 70 percent in discounts in their favorite hotels and resorts,” he said.

With Cebu Province dropping its RT-PCR requirements, Reyes said he is hopeful they can also pull in travelers from Manila and some neighboring regions to participate in the online sale.

Recently, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases implemented uniform travel protocols.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) said it supported the move for the safe reopening of tourist destinations as this will allow the country to restart its economy

and help tourism workers regain their jobs.

The DOT said the simplification of requirements is vital in encouraging domestic travel and helping in the speedy recovery of Philippine tourism. (JOB)
