MAGIKLAND, the first outdoor theme park in the Visayas, located in Sitio Cabug, Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental, is among the premier tourist destinations in the province where family and friends can live their dream and feel the magic.

The five-hectare park was established as the brainchild of Aton Land and Leisure Inc. chairman Atty. Simplicio A. Palanca, who is a visionary and has a penchant for recreation and entertainment aside from his prevailing megaprojects such as the development of the seaport named after the City of Bacolod and vast reclamation works in Bacolod City about his being the founder and Chairman of Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation (Bredco).

Magikland is a new attraction in the province that offers adrenaline-rousing rides, namely, the Silay Eye, (Ferris Wheel), crazy trail, family swinger, sky tower, disk'O, fantasy carousel, crazy surf, magic bike, Magikland express, smashers (bumper cars), Mt. Kanlaon (kiddie ride), and happy swing.

The midway games include ring toss, hangman, proper, unball, archery, goblets and basketball and the Butantanding playground.

Jessric Naria, Magikland Sales and Marketing manager, said Magikland is open only in their three-day operation scheme on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

They cater to local tourists due to the Covid-19 restrictions. But their operation follows the health protocols with the much-needed social distancing, the wearing of face mask, and park guests filling up health declaration forms that indicate their profile and body temperature.

"We operated sporadically since November last year and the safety of everyone is our main consideration. We also cater to exclusive use of the park by large families, groups, and corporate organizations which hold team buildings, among others with a maximum of 100 persons," he said.

With the 98th birthday of Atty. Palanca, Magikland has offered some gimmicks to their guests to impart the celebration of the founder's special day.

Reynaldo Bantug, president of Aton Land & Leisure Inc., said it is Uncle Sam's birthday. This was his dream ever since before to set up a carnival and amusement for the Negrenses to enjoy and to make the park affordable for all. Former congressman Albee Benitez shares the dream of his Lolo Sammy (Atty. Palanca) in the establishment of the park that is comparable to the best parks outside for the people of Negros and the surrounding island. We have a working amusement park now."

With the lifting of health restrictions, it will be advantageous to the park and its guests.

Hopefully, we can go back to normal condition soon, he said.
