THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has reactivated the Motorized Anti-Street Crime Operatives (Masco) to address the crimes perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects.
Police Lieutenant Ma. Liberty Indiape, spokesperson of BCPO, on Friday, March 12, 2021, said they assigned dedicated personnel as Masco members to conduct a visibility patrol in various barangays.
“The team will be using motorcycles to be deployed to various areas, especially to the crime-prone areas and major streets. The presence of Masco is a big help to pre-empt the possible operations of lawless elements in the city,” she said.
She added that it is part of the crime prevention program of BCPO to maintain peace and order in the city.
Indiape noted that all police station chiefs were also directed to intensify their visibility patrol within their areas of jurisdiction.
Masco will be headed by Police Lieutenant Randy Tapang of the Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU).
Masco was created during the stint of former BCPO director Senior Superintendent Ricardo de la Paz.
Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairperson of the City Council committee on police matters, earlier urged BCPO to double its effort to solve the killing incidents in the city.
Espino said several shooting incidents in Bacolod City remained unsolved and most of the assailants are still unidentified.
