Zamboanga City marks 94 percent recoveries

THE City Health Office announced that the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries in Zamboanga City spiked to 94.15 percent as 15 new recoveries were recorded in the city.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said this city’s recovery cases increased to 3,969, with 15 new recoveries recorded as of Thursday, March 11, based on the Covid-19 Tracker data.

Miravite said the 3,969 recovered cases were as follows: 3,295 community-related; 328 locally stranded individuals (LSIs); 190 city reformatory center (CRC)-related; 69 authorized persons outside residence (Apors); 42 detainees; 25 returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs); 17 Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel; and three returning residents from Malaysia.

Miravite said Zamboanga City has 4,215 confirmed cases, with 57 active cases and 189 deaths.

She said the active cases were the following: 33 community-related; 18 detainees; five Apors; and, one, LSIs.

Of the 189 deaths, 184 were community-related; two CRC-related; two detainees; and one LSI.

Meanwhile, Miravite said the added protection of the Covid-19 vaccines will bring the people closer to resuming a normal life.

The Department of Health (DOH)-Zamboanga Peninsula has so far received two shipment of vaccines consisting of 20,200 doses of Sinovac and 10,000 AstraZeneca.

The vaccines were distributed to the different hospitals in Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan and Sulu that are under the jurisdiction of DOH-Zamboanga Peninsula. (SunStar Zamboanga)
