BACOLOD City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran reiterated to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to double its effort to solve the killing incidents in the city.

"Bacolod City was very peaceful two to three years ago and after that, there were series of unsolved crimes or killings and it's alarming," Familiaran said.

He said the police should double their effort to solve the killings and to give justice to the family of the victims.

On Friday, March 12, Lino Cuadra Jr., 62, of Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, was shot to death by unidentified assailants at the Northbound Terminal in Barangay Bata.

Investigation showed that Cuadra was waiting for a public utility jeepney when unidentified assailants, on board a sports utility vehicle, fired at him.

Police Lieutenant Jesse Lepana, deputy chief of Police Station 3, earlier said that they are facing difficulty in identifying the perpetrators behind the killing of the victim.

He said they have no lead yet on the identities of the assailants, whom they claimed to be not less than three armed men.

In February alone, six persons were also killed by unidentified assailants in Bacolod City.

Familiaran said the participation of the witnesses is also very important to solve the killings.

"The police are also dependent on the witnesses who are in the crime scene so we need to cooperate to solve the crimes," he said.

He added that BCPO should also have their crime solution to decrease the crime incidents.
