Ask Atty. Migs 1st episode talks about marriage

IN A bid to help the public with their legal concern and educate them about their legal rights, SunStar Davao partnered with lawyer Margarita Ignacia "Migs" B. Nograles in a talk show dubbed as Ask Atty. Migs aired on the latter's official Facebook page.

Co-hosted by Sun Star Davao's editor Ace June Rell Perez, the pilot episode of Ask Atty. Migs tackled marriage and all legal concerns related to it. First off, Atty. Migs talked about the essential requirements when getting married as a couple must not just decide one day that they want to get married. There are legal requirements aside from the formal requirements they have to meet lest their marriage will be called "void ab initio" or invalid from the outset.

During the show, followers of SunStar Davao Facebook page were able to ask their questions about marriage. First off, Atty. Migs shed light about the legal age to get married and the difference of Parental Advice and Parental Consent.

Did you know that there are only certain persons who can officiate a wedding? And there are persons who can officiate a wedding in a certain situation or in artikulo mortis (when one of the parties is dying).

For the second question, Atty. Migs talked about the validity or invalidity of the second marriage and how the sharing of properties should be done in this situation. She also cleared the misconception about the issue on legal separation and clarified what is the valid "virtual wedding" and what is not.
