A TOTAL of 5,837 medical frontliners in Cagayan de Oro, both from the public and private hospitals and isolated facilities, got their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccines allocated for the city as of March 15.
According to Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, the Department of Health (DOH)-Northern Mindanao has allocated a total of 5,893 doses of the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines to Cagayan de Oro City.
The 5,893 vaccinated individuals are composed of the frontline healthcare workers from the Cagayan de Oro Medical Center, Capitol University Medical Center, JR Borja General Hospital, Madonna and Child Hospital, Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital, Northern Mindanao Medical Center, Polymedic Medical Plaza, Evangelista Station Hospital, Sabal Hospital, and the city's temporary treatment and monitoring facilities and isolation units.
Cagayan de Oro, at present, has a utilization rate of 99.04 percent, Nery said.
The acting city health officer also mentioned that 21 vials of AstraZeneca vaccines, good for 210 doses, were delivered to the JR Borja General Hospital on March 15.
"In JR Borja General Hospital, we were able to vaccinate 249 individuals out of the 21 vials. Wala tay wastage sa atong pag aspirate sa atong vaccine from the vial kay naa man gud na syay pakapin each vial, mga contingency doses nato," Nery said.
"So matilok nato, mao na nga nakita nato nga mas daghan ang atong na-vaccinate out of the number of vials nga gihatag sa ato sa Department of Health," she added.
There are also some medical frontliners who were willing to be vaccinated but were deferred due to medical conditions that were noticed during the screening, such as headache, rising blood pressure, among others.
There are also others who were deferred because they were vaccinated for flu or just received vaccines for other diseases.
A total of 9,436 frontline healthcare workers in Cagayan de Oro were registered in the city's initial masterlist.
Among those on the list are employees from the different hospitals in the city, City Health Office employees, staff of the city isolation units and temporary treatment and monitoring facilities, barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, members of the disinfection team, and City Disaster Risk Reduction Department employees who are directly involved in the response for Covid-19.
