Police face blank wall in slay of Cuadra

THE Bacolod City Police Station 3 has yet to establish the motive in the killing of Lino Cuadra Jr. at the Northbound Terminal in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City on March 12.

Police Lieutenant Jesse Lepana, deputy chief of Police Station 3, said Tuesday, March 16, that they are still investigating the incident and have yet to identify the perpetrators, whom they claimed to be not less than three armed men.

He said they are now coordinating with Police Station 2 to check the background of the victim.

Cuadra, 62, of Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, sustained multiple gunshot wounds when unidentified assailants fired at him several times around 6:40 p.m.

Police recovered from the scene of the crime 22 empty shells of a .45 caliber revolver.

Lepana said Cuadra, a gamefowl breeder, was waiting for a public utility jeepney when unidentified assailants, onboard a sports utility vehicle, fired at him.

He said based on the statement of the family of the victim, the victim did not receive any threat.

"Until now, it's not clear the motive in the killing of the victim and we are still conducting further investigation," he added.

Lepana said they already checked the closed circuit television camera at the Northbound Terminal, but the footages are not clear to identify the suspects.
