CEBU Governor Gwendolyn Garcia tested negative for the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The Cebu Provincial Government disclosed this on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

The Provincial Information Office showed the copy of the results of the real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test that Garcia took on March 16 as a requisite for a town meeting with a dignitary.

Weeks before the result was revealed, unofficial reports were circulating, saying that Garcia tested positive for the virus that causes Covid-19.

The same kind of reports circulated last year.

In August 2020, Capitol announced that Garcia tested negative for the virus that causes Covid-19. She took the test after delivering her message during Cebu’s 451st Charter Day celebration.

Since last year, Garcia has been making efforts to open to the public the tourism industry of Cebu Province that has been seriously affected by the quarantine measures in response to the pandemic. (ANV/With NRC)
