TO BE or not to be, that is the question, as Hamlet posed in one of Shakespeare’s celebrated, timeless plays. It is the same question that faces many today.
Media celebrities, society’s influencers doctors among them, have posed for the camera as they got vaccinated by the latest anti-Covid-19 vaccine. Little known is the fact that whether Sinovac or Pfizer and another brand, the vaccines are DNA in form.
Dr. Mike Sarabia, President of the Negros Occidental Medical Association, and one of the first in Bacolod to be vaccinated by Sinovac, explains that it is a “traditional attenuated virus” — “a virus which was made harmless”. The other vaccines are very new technology, a DNA type, a vaccine pathogenic designed to stem the spread of Covid-19.
The one type, Johnson & Johnson vaccine is now being tested at an elite private hospital in the city. My informant, with pre-existing diabetes 2, is one of the invited participants.
With different brands of the vaccine flowing into the Philippines, and local governments now into mass vaccination programs all over the archipelago, the burning question remains, "how safe are the new pathogenic vaccines?" To answer this question, let me refer you to my culling of Reuter and European News Reports.
The Netherlands on March 13, 2021, joined a fast-growing list of countries suspending the use of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine after reports of unexpected possible side effects from the injection. The vaccine will not be used until at least March 29 as a precaution, the Dutch government said in a statement.
The announcement will lead to delays in rolling out shots in the Netherlands, which had pre-ordered 12 million doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine. Health authorities had scheduled around 290,000 AstraZeneca injections in the coming two weeks. This move, which follows a similar decision by Ireland earlier on, is based on reports from Denmark and Norway of possible serious side effects. These new reports are now being investigated by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
Along with Denmark, Norway, and Ireland, Iceland has also suspended the use of the vaccine over alleged clotting issues, while Thailand became the first country outside of Europe to do so on Friday. Italy’s northern region of Piedmont on Sunday said it would stop using a batch of AstraZeneca vaccines. Austria also stopped using a particular batch last week.
In all the rush to vaccinate as many individuals against Covid-19, there has been no informed concerned disclosure of real risks from DNA structured vaccines. Yet, Covid-19 has rapidly mutated, which variants the vaccines cannot fight because they were geared towards the original virus. Scientists cannot go ahead of rapid mutations of the Covid-19 virus and vaccinated individuals ran the high risk of over-reaction of their compromised auto-immune defense system.
A city Influencer, a good friend Atty. John Orola said that he has enlisted my name and that of my husband for free anti-Covid-19 vaccination. Whether a joke or not, I readily said, no thanks. I will do more exposition on the burning question in my next column.
