WE OFTEN throw denigrating, oftentimes sick jokes at Chinese products as of low-quality, quick to break and fast to fade. The doubt is always there.
We blush whenever someone see us using Chinese-made products, as if there is a stigma on every Chinese products we consume.
We blame the Chinese for the virus we have been infected with, saying it originated in Wuhan, now completely recovered from the disease, as reports say, and people there are reportedly leaving normal lives.
But latest press release from the new super power China claims industrial development in this thickly-populated region has benefited from policies on reducing poverty.
China also has a strong agriculture activity, developing its bamboo shoot industry, achieving an annual output value of dried bamboo shoots exceeding 200 million yuan.
Various areas in China have built 3,000 preliminary processing facilities for agricultural products, creating more jobs and revenues from added value of industries.
Despite China's very huge population which runs to over 2 billion, it has managed to climb out of poverty through sheer industry and hard work of its residents.
As the press release states, being empowered by industrial development helped more than 70 percent of the once poor residents by receiving guidance in production and technical training, thus enhancing their self-development capabilities.
We know of the habit and culture of the local Chinese in our midst. They bond closely together, help the disadvantaged fellow Chinese by engaging their services as workers till the latter learn and be on their own. That is the beauty of this Chinese trait, so far different from us Pinoys who abandon fellow Pinoys once they are down. Chinese held fellow Chinese, Pinoys let down fellow Pinoys and jeer them to shame! Whew!

While at it, reports have it that China's GDP (Gross Domestic Product) exceeded 100 trillion yuan for the first time in years, thus cementing its position as the number one world super power. And the US? Well, it is still wallowing in recession and its President had to seek Congress' help to approve a massive relief package of $1.9 trillion!
