THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Occidental conducted a two-day Entrepreneurship and Business Planning Seminar at its Training Room in Bacolod City from March 17 to 18, 2021.

This is in collaboration with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) under the latter's Balik Pinas Balik-Hanapbuhay Program for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

DTI-Negros Occidental said the seminar aims to promote the welfare and interest of OFWs and their families particularly in economic endeavors.

It also helps them in improving their socio-economic life and to facilitate their reintegration into the societal mainstream, the agency said.

The seminar focused on financial literacy and enhanced entrepreneurship development for OFWs and their families, it added.

DTI Negosyo Center-Bacolod City Senior Business Counselor Gabriel Advincula discussed topics on entrepreneurship.

He underscored the strategies on how to start a small enterprise, the relevance of being an entrepreneur, and the right characteristics needed in entrepreneurship, among others.

He also emphasized the risk and opportunities of entrepreneurship.

About 20 OFWs from different localities in the province attended the seminar. Some of them joined virtually.

They were provided with the Pro-forma of a simplified business plan. Each part of the plan was clearly explained as part of their workshop. (EPN)
