The third champion of GMA Network’s reality talent competition show “The Clash” is another Cebuana.
Jessica Villarubin from San Fernando, Cebu, was named grand champion of “The Clash” Season 3 last year and now her dreams are slowly coming true.
The 25-year-old singer just launched her debut single titled “Ako Naman” composed by Christian Bautista under GMA Music. Jessica explained how the song expresses all the struggles that she has gone through to get to where she is now and how it made her even stronger to achieve her dreams.
She also unveiled her “new look” during her performance on “All Out Sunday.” Jessica admitted that people always had something to say about how she looked even before she joined the show. This was one of the reasons she underwent surgical enhancement with the help of celebrity doctor Dr. Vicki Belo.
“I feel more confident now. We all experience getting bullied, but I’m also doing this for myself—to boost my self-confidence,” she said.
For her, it was very fulfilling to finally get to perform again after resting for a couple of weeks. Jessica is happy that most feedback from her fans and netizens upon posting her transformation on social media are positive. Until now, she still could not believe what once was an “invisible” Jessica is now loved by many.
“Even though my face has quite changed now, I can assure you that I’m still the Jessica that you know. Nothing will ever change. It is still me,” she said.
She is also grateful for having Cebuano artist friends who helped her in adjusting to the new environment. The first Cebuana champion Clasher, Golden Cañedo, was her instant go-to person as she frequently met her in local singing competitions before.
Although she is focusing on her singing career, Jessica is also open to venturing into acting if given the chance. She says that if given the chance to have a lead role, she hopes to work with GMA artists such as Alden Richards as her leading man.
Jessica revealed that her fans can expect more from her especially now that she is working on her next single.
