DA rolls out AGRILABCaravan in Zamboanga del Sur

THE Department of Agriculture (DA), through its Integrated Laboratories Division (ILD), has rolled-out a three-day AGRILABCaravan in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur to boost production of farmers and fisherfolks in the area.

DA Regional Director Rad Donn Cedeño said in a statement that the caravan, which was held in Oroquieta village, Guipos, kicked off Wednesday, March 17, 2021, and ended Friday.

Cedeño said the ILD made its Mobile Soils Laboratory available and accessible to farmers and fisherfolk during the caravan.

The mobile soils laboratory operation aimed to empower farming communities and the private sectors through effective laboratory services to attain optimum agricultural production yield without causing decline of soil fertility.

Cedeño said the caravan is in support to the Plant, Plant, Plant program of DA Secretary William Dar.

He said his office, through the Regional Crop Protection Center entomologists, have also provided technical assistance on insect and pest diseases control and management during the activity.

The Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory and Regional Animal Feed Analysis Laboratory have also joined the AGRILABCaravan.

Cedeño said corn seeds and Biological Control Agents like Beauveria Bassiana, Meterhizium Amsopliae, Eocanthecona, Furcellata and Trichogramma Evanescense were given to the farmers.

He added that agriculture information, education, and communication materials were also distributed to the participants of the caravan to maximize efforts in the promotion of the Plant, Plant, Plant program in ensuring food availability in every household. (SunStar Zamboanga)
